The wildfire caused a voluntary pre-evacuation of the area and is still moving south towards Burn Ridge.

ROUTT COUNTY, Colorado – A wildfire that started Friday afternoon in the Routt National Forest reached 3,858 acres on Monday evening, without containment.

The Morgan Creek fire started on Friday – it’s burning 15 miles north of Steamboat Springs.

It has now spread to the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness, according to the forest fire news website Inciweb.

On Monday, officials said the fire behavior was moderate, with supports, scouts, crowns and fires, and a Type II team had been ordered and was mobilizing. A Wyoming Type III incident command team took over management of the blaze on Sunday morning, officials said.
