Bethel Baptist to Host Women’s Conference Next Week


Bethel Plainview Baptist Church will host a concert on March 2 and the public is invited. Entertainment will be provided by Ernie Couch & Revival. Abundant Grace Church in Plainview will host a women’s conference at the end of the month. The event is called “A Night with the King, Find Favors with the King”. It will begin on February 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continue on February 26 from 8 a.m. to noon. Friday evening will include a gala banquet. The dress code is “elegant”. Admission is free for people aged 18 and over. No daycare is available. Speakers include Dr. Shelly Bratcher, Jovanna Barrera, Teresa Betancourt and Dina Ramirez. The HUBC Choir will also perform. A four-week virtual summit on big ministry in small towns hosted by Baptists in Texas is set to begin in April. The following presentations are scheduled for 6:00 pm on the following dates: April 20 – Mobilizing the Small Town Church for Large Missions and Ministry; April 27 – Confronting Cultural Christianity in Small Towns; May 4 – Restoring the Glory: Breathing New Life in the Rural Black Church; May 11 – Remembering our call. Seth Ward Baptist Church, 601 E. 24and St., offers a Men’s Prayer Breakfast every second Saturday of the month at 8 a.m.

A Celebrate Recovery class is hosted by Johnny Beavers at Seth Ward Baptist Church, 601 E. 24and St., every Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Lighthouse Apostolic Church, 1504 Houston in Plainview, invites the public to pray at the church from 6-7 p.m. each Friday. You do not need to be a church member to attend and pray. Our Lady of Guadalupe offers a soup kitchen through the cafeteria once a month. A soup kitchen coordinator said it was run by the church’s CCD program. It helps involved children earn community service credits. Delivery is available. The soup kitchen is usually offered on the third Saturday of the month. Meals are served from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 211 W. Seventh Street.

The Plainview Dance Club holds dances at the First Christian Church in Plainview once a week. Dances are held Mondays from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Third Church East Service Road off Interstate 27. Snacks and performances are available for those who wish to join in the dancing and fellowship. No smoking and/or drinking. The event is open to everyone. Membership fees are $5 for members, $7 for non-members, or $10 for a one-year membership.
