June 27, 2022: The Celtic Cultural Alliance (CCA) has announced the opening of volunteer registration for the 35th annual celebration of the Celtic Classic Highland Games and Festival, which will take place September 23-25, 2022, in the city center of Bethlehem.
.
The Celtic Classic relies on hundreds of dedicated volunteers to create the event. From assembly to disassembly, there is an opportunity for everyone.

Executive Director Jayne Ann Recker said: “We have a saying here at Celtic Classic: there are 500 new friends waiting to meet you! And it is the truth. Some of these wonderful people have worked together for years and when they get together they celebrate. We have several who met while volunteering but live far apart and only see each other at the Celtic Classic. They arrange to be programmed together every year. We love getting those phone calls.

There are many opportunities for students to earn community service hours. Students can work in groups with friends in the Kids Activity Tent, as Supply Runners, in the Merchandise Tent, or individually as Machinists.

CCA also has paid cashier positions in the beverage tents for ages 18 and up. Square terminals will be used and are very easy to learn. To apply, email: [email protected]

For those looking for a seated position, there are opportunities in the Volunteer Registration Tent and VIP Tent Registration. Whether you want to be near the bagpipes (Piping Steward or Parade Marshal) or clap a Guinness while listening to an Irish Jig, or simply be part of the largest free Celtic festival in North America, the Celtic Classic promises ‘I’ll wonder why you didn’t do it earlier.

Recker said: “Only volunteers who registered before August 1 will receive a 35th anniversary t-shirt.

Celtic Classic takes place from Friday September 23 to Sunday September 25 in historic downtown Bethlehem. For breaking news and updates, follow Celtic Classic on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (@CelticClassic).

About the Celtic Cultural Alliance
On Columbus Day weekend in 1988, the first Celtic Classic was presented by a small group of individuals. The goal of this dedicated group was to create an event that symbolizes Celtic spirit and history, and to provide momentum for an organization focused on promoting Celtic culture. This group has now evolved into the Celtic Cultural Alliance to better communicate the overall goals of the organization.

The CCA has expanded with year-round programming to support the mission of promoting and preserving Celtic culture through arts, music, literature, dance and history programs. True to the spirit of ‘Next Generation’, the CCA also offers scholarships to promising young students of Celtic arts. These annual scholarships are available to arts students including Irish Step Dance, Highland Dance, Fiddle and Bagpipes.

The Celtic Classic has become one of the largest Highland games and festivals in North America. Each year, over 250,000 visitors come to historic Bethlehem to take part in this celebration of all things Celtic. The organization has expanded to programs throughout the year. Our educational programming has expanded to include community outreach events at area school districts, religious institutions, local theaters and Lehigh Valley colleges. A range of scholarships are awarded each year in various areas of Celtic culture.
