A tornado cleanup event scheduled for Saturday

0

The Town of Round Rock invites the public to participate in post-tornado cleanup efforts in the Kensington and Windy Park neighborhoods on Saturday, March 26.

Volunteers will remove construction debris and tree branches piled along the curbs of dumpsters and rear-loading garbage trucks located throughout the neighborhood. This event will require manual work; DO NOT bring children under 14 or pets. Volunteers should be prepared to walk the neighborhoods and bring gloves, safety glasses, closed-toed shoes, sun protection, and water. Trucks, trailers, chainsaws or any other equipment are DO NOT needed for this event.

Volunteers will be accepted in two teams and can arrive at one of the two event meeting places between 8am-8:30am or 12pm-12:30pm:

Check-in points will be located in each parking lot and volunteers will walk around the neighborhoods. The roads will be extremely congested; due to the need to efficiently transport dumpsters in and out of neighborhoods, volunteers cannot park on residential streets in the neighborhood.

DO:

  • Bring work gloves, safety glasses, closed shoes, sun protection and water
  • Park at Dell 3 or Success High School
  • Look for volunteer registration tents
  • Be prepared to walk around the neighborhoods
  • Arrival between 8h-8h30 OR 12h-12h30

DO NOT:

  • Bring children under 14 or pets
  • Park in neighborhoods
  • Bring trucks, trailers, chainsaws or other equipment

The city has already organized large groups of volunteers to provide cleanup efforts in the neighborhoods of Forest Bluff, South Creek and Turtle Creek, so no general public volunteers are needed in those neighborhoods Saturday.
