Tree mitigation on Yampa Street begins next week

The City of Steamboat Springs and Aspen Tree Service will begin tree mitigation work on Yampa Street between Little Toots and Fifth Street on Monday, August 29.

According to a press release, work will begin in the Little Toots Park area and progress to Fifth Street. Crews will remove dead branches and promote overall tree health.

“This routine maintenance and inspections are imperative to promote the longevity and lifespan of trees,” Open Space and Trails Supervisor Jenny Carey said in the release. “Not only is this important to the health of the tree, but it is also a key requirement for our annual Tree City USA designation.”



On Monday, there will be a short closure of the Yampa River Core Trail at Little Toots Park, with a detour around the Bud Werner Memorial Library around noon.

Additionally, the Yampa and Ninth Street car park between Backdoor Sports and Ambulance Barn will be closed on Wednesday, August 31. On Thursday, September 1 and Friday, September 2, the Seventh Street parking lot will be closed. .



The detours will move with the works as crews descend Yampa Street and are expected to be completed on Friday.
