Thanksgiving is usually a sit down family dinner; however, for many people this might not be the case.

This year will mark the 37e Annual Thanksgiving dinner at Paso Robles.

This non-profit organization provides more than 1,500 Thanksgiving Day meals to community members in need.

The sit-down dinner takes place at Centennial Park on Thanksgiving Day, but this year they need help.

“We need at least 200 volunteers to be able to organize this event and without our volunteers we cannot do it,” said Misty Epperson, who sits on the organization’s steering committee.

Currently, they are short of a hundred volunteers. They need more help because it’s not just about having a traditional dinner party, the organization has other options for everyone to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

“There’s also a take-out item where people can pick up their meals,” said Jennifer Knoll, Thanksgiving for Paso Robles board member. “We also deliver hundreds of meals to the community,”

Giving just a small amount of time can make a difference to someone in the community.

“You know, when you are lucky enough to have so much to give in just a few hours on such an important day, it is so meaningful not only to the people you serve, but also to yourself,” he said. Epperson said.

This organization hopes to continue supporting those in need during this thanksgiving and show why they are Paso strong.

Volunteer shifts are available between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Volunteers are needed to help prepare the event which will begin on Tuesday, November 23.
