The boating season is open at Green Mountain Reservoir with the Heeney Marina boat launch open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The US Forest Service requires that all motorized watercraft or trailers undergo a boat launch pest inspection in an attempt to prevent the introduction of invasive mussels and other harmful aquatic species into the boat. tank. The Forest Service also requires that all motorized or towed boats enter and exit the reservoir from the launching ramp. The boat launch is closed when inspectors are not present.

The Forest Service only opened the McDonald Flats boat launch to non-motorized, hand-launched and hand-operated boats. The Forest Service prohibits any other launching ramp and coastal launching.

Dillon District Ranger Adam Bianchi said in a press release that the Forest Service continues to work with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Summit County and the Bureau of Reclamation to monitor and protect Green Mountain Reservoir.

Reservations for camping around the reservoir can be made at Cow Creek North, Cow Creek South, Elliot Creek, Prairie Point and Willows Campgrounds. The availability of these sites can be searched on Recreation.gov.

McDonald Flats Campground is first come, first served.
