PennDOT launches database for suspended inspectors

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – PennDOT has announced the launch of a new database that will provide increased transparency to customers regarding vehicle condition inspections.

The database will show which vehicle inspection stations, inspectors, dealers, and issuing agents are suspended for violations of state inspection regulations and laws as well as contact violations.

“Vehicle inspections, license plate issuance, registration and titling are integral to the safety and proper registration of everyone traveling on our roads, and consumers can use this new tool to help make an informed decision about these services,” PennDOT Secretary Yassmin Gramian said.

The database consists of a daily updated list of all inspection posts, inspectors, dealers and issuing agents within the Commonwealth that have been suspended. Suspensions are imposed on a post or an inspector as a result of violations discovered during audits or the investigation of complaints concerning either an inspection post or an inspector.

The imposed suspensions only affect their company’s ability to perform vehicle safety and emissions inspections. This does not affect the company’s ability to offer other services.
