Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio offers the following volunteer opportunities at its Mennonite Memorial Home, Willow Ridge, Hilty Home, and Maple Crest facilities in Bluffton and Pandora. Interested persons can contact Chris Moser at [email protected] or dial 419-358-1015 ext. 263.
Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St.
Medical Transport Drivers (licensed drivers to take residents to medical appointments in Bluffton, Lima, Findlay):
- Volunteer drivers help residents get to their appointments during the week using MHCO’s handicap accessible van or 15-passenger bus. (Help on the days you are available.)
Indoor activities:
- Play games with residents on the 3rd floor
- Weekly nail salon at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.
- Visit with the Elders
- Tuesday evening worship at 6:30 p.m.
- Help with folding the laundry (around 9:00 a.m.)
- Getting out of the water (around 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.)
Willow Ridge, 101 Willow Ridge Dr.
Indoor activities:
- Read, Reminisce and Sit with Elders
- Weekly nail salon at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.
- Play piano or other instrument for seniors
Outside work:
Hilty House, 304 Hilty Drive, Pandora
Indoor activities:
- Conduct a Bible study (Tuesday and/or Thursday at 10:30 a.m.)
- Assist in taking seniors to appointments for in-patient clinics and haircuts
- Play the piano and/or another instrument for seniors
- Lead worship one day per month (open to a flexible schedule)
- Getting out of the water (around 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.)
- Help with board and card games, bingo on weekdays and weekends
- Weekly nail salon at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.
Maple Crest, 700 yard Maple Crest
Indoor activities:
- Animate games and discussions with residents (Bingo and others)
- Bible study leader: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month in person at 3:00 p.m.
- Lead worship one day per month (open to a flexible schedule)
Outside work:
- Help clear a fence – a great opportunity for a Sunday School group
