To mark the 75th Independence Day, people can now buy or make the tricolor from synthetic fabric. Previously, the flag had to be made from Khadi only. Other than that, people will be allowed to hoist the tricolor throughout the day, instead of between sunrise and sunset.

In his speech at Mann Ki Baat on July 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had suggested that people could place the tricolor on their social media profiles ahead of Independence Day celebrations.

“Under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, from August 13 to 15, a special movement – Har Ghar Tiranga is organized. I have a suggestion that from August 2 to August 15, we can all place the tricolor in our social media profile pictures,” Modi said.
