Wet and windy weather during the week kept most boaters out, resulting in a

quiet week for the Coast Guard with no activations.

This allowed for CPR and first aid training at Yeppoon Coast Guard.

All Coast Guard members are required to take refresher courses for CPR every year and first aid every three years.

CPR training includes the use of defibrillators which are carried on the boats and at the base.

A family boat trip was cut short on Friday when a safety chain gave way and a fiberglass boat fell from the trailer onto the ramp while being launched.

Following the incident at the Rosslyn Bay boat launch on Friday, boat owners are reminded to ensure they have adequate safety straps and chains attached to their boats when launch and recovery on the boat ramps.
