MANISTEE – The power of 100 caring women in Manistee County can be seen in action by the impact the philanthropic women’s group has made with recent donations to nonprofits in the area.

Anyone who attended the recent Art Diva exhibition at the Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts, may have noticed that the walls of Hardy Hall are no longer red. The hall renovations were made possible in part by a donation of 100 Women Who Care to the RRCA in 2019.

Bob’s roof replace the roof at Choice of Manistee County, thanks in part to a matching donation made possible by a donation of 100 Women Who Care to CHOICES in 2020. Choices helps women victims of domestic violence.

Lighthouse Pregnancy Care Center was able to stay warm last winter with its new boiler system. The old boiler system has been replaced by funds from 100 Women Who Care. Lighthouse aims to educate, support and mentor “individuals to make positive decisions about sexuality, pregnancy and pregnancy loss”.

Youth Services Staircase purchased 10 US Coast Guard approved life jackets and 10 fishing rods, and the additional purchase of a lockable steel cabinet to store equipment in the Manistee County Teen Center. Staircase helps at-risk youth, runaways and / or homeless people in West Michigan.

This equipment is now available for use by workers in any human service organization for two day loans. The equipment will help remove barriers to accessing water-related recreation in Manistee County. Funding for this project comes from the COVID Relief Fund of the Manistee County Community Foundation, funded in part by 100 Women Who Care.

the Youth project of the armory received funding from the group in April and was able to replace the overhead lighting in the activity room, strengthen the security of two classrooms inside and add an emergency key box outside the building . The armory “was created to support the adolescents of Manistee County and their families.”

Between 100 Women Who Care and 100 Men Who Care, the groups have raised nearly $ 275,000 since their formation in 2014.
